HISTORY ALMANAC BARONIESFEATURES

HISTORY
Besides River Taxes, one of the things the Baronies sold to merchants was protection form the barbarian humanoids on the Northern shore of the river in the Highmoor Gap or on the Southern shore in the Iron Hills. Of course, many tribes reached deals with the Baronies over the years - allowing them to extort river traffick on their behalf. So long as the ogres got gold, trinkets, cattle and the occaisional virgin, they let the merchants pass with little more than a good show to keep up appearances. Of course, that was before the Devil's Horn Canal. Few such arrangements are left...

The two barbarian territories stretch on a couple hundred km before the territories of the Downstrean Baronies start up again.

FEATURES DESCRIPTION
Bithtat Sengar River The mighty river that runs through the Baronies from Lake Seluna to the sea. Once the most significant trade route between Terranse and the old Dwarven Empire, its importance in this has dwindled since the completion of the Devil's Horn Canal.
