Background

The ever-changing and evolving Pantheon of the Ascendant was largely inherited from the ancient Mazarean, a civilization made up mostly of humans and elves. Mazarean once covered much of the Mazari mainland around Middleasea and toward Lake Seluna in the East and Colonial Hills in the South before its collapse over 1,000 years ago. After the collapse of the Mazarean and before the rise of the Five Kingdoms of Terranse, there was a great Dark Age, about which very little is known. Most contemporary worship of the Ascendant in its current ritualized and ordered form is approximately 150 years old, with some notable exceptions. Most of the Ascendant underwent a major reordering of their various theologies and dogmas as a result of reinterpretations following a meteor striking Lake Dakar around this time. The Ascendant are regarded as fledgling gods, and many are believed to have once been mortals themselves. They are extremely personal deities and, for the most part, they are fairly flexible, particularly compared to the unchanging Pantheons of Old Terranse, such as the Olympians, the Aesir or even the Tir Na Og. Some, however, are less flexible and more jealous than others.

Gallantine The God-King of Gallant. The Gallantish General who ended Gallant's internicine period, reunited his homeland and declared himself Emperor. Somewhere on his path to becoming a tyrant, he became a god.
Heironeous

• The mythical battle between Heironeous and Hextor arose from the Dark Age of the Mazari. More Dwarves began worshipping Heironeous once its doctrines became clearer and less exclusive during the reordering around the time of the meteor crash in Lake Dakar. After the meteor struck , the cult that had formed around the noble deeds of the Hero Heironeous became much more refined in its dogma and structured. He began to appear more regularly to the High Commanders of his Faith, exhorting them to greater and more virtuous efforts.
• Most Dwarves who adhere to the Church of Heironeous still acknowledge Moradin and the other Dwarven Gods, but many were embittered towards the Veins of Stone as a result of the Dwarven Civil War.
• The leader of the Church of Heironeous is called the Lord High Commander, and is selected through a process that includes proving him or herself on the battlefield of both the world and the heart.
